I love incorporating small healing acts in my life. We can’t always go on a 3-day meditation retreat, but we can take a few seconds or a few minutes to practice a tiny act of healing. This series will dive into small healing acts that can help you feel connected, loved, and seen. Share your own in the comments, too.
I’ve always loved space. My dad and I would take blankets to the backyard and watch meteor showers. And one time, I swore I saw the Milky Way with my naked eyes. Thinking about space can give us perspective: remind us of the huge reality beyond our small, personal concerns. Space makes us feel small. But what if space could make us feel big, too?
In the Hindu chakra system, the seventh or crown chakra, Sahasrara, lives at the top of our skulls. It represents our connection to the divine. There, we merge with universal consciousness and our separateness dissolves. We become connected to everything that is and ever will be.
There are many ways to access the power of the crown chakra, including yoga sequences, meditations, and sound frequencies.
But what if we just looked up at night?
The next time you’re out at night, pick a star. Any old star. And tell it you love it. Feel into any warmth or tingling in your chest, and imagine broadcasting that thousands of light-years away. Imagine that great big ball of fire and gas. How it burns and burns. And send your love towards it.
I love to do this while walking dogs at night. Especially while the dog is stopping to sniff… or poop. Who said healing is always glamorous?
I stop and look up and tell the stars I love them. It makes me very happy. Sometimes I feel a wave of heart energy that isn’t mine — it’s deeper, at a lower frequency, and very powerful. I like to imagine that this must be the star feeling and returning my love. Which means that love travels far faster than light — that actually, love is the fastest and most powerful force in the universe.
But you already knew that, didn’t you?
Try it, and let me know how it went!
